Trump doesn’t have a lot of respect for the evangelicals who voted for him. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. Join TYT:
“In a report released by enenhe New Yorker Monday, eyewitness accounts of President Donald Trump insulting and degrading those of faith — Christians in particular — came to light. In particular, statements made by the president seem to demonstrate that he holds the evangelical convictions of Vice President Mike Pence in little regard and may have equally dismissive feelings about the values of that Christianity in general.
It’s an odd, but perhaps not unexpected, revelation given that president Trump won the 2016 election in part because he had the full support of Christian evangelicals. It was, as many opined at the time, an odd match. That an openly, twice-married, profane, philandering, irreligious, ex-pro-abortion, miserly glutton somehow convinced a good portion of the U.S. that he was a man of God and champion for the tenets of evangelism must be considered one of the greatest political coups in modern political history.”*
