Tarantino Makes Harvey Weinstein Confession

Grace Baldridge, Mark Thompson, and Simone Boyce, the hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. Join TYT:

“Quentin Tarantino, the Hollywood director most closely tied to Harvey Weinstein, has known for decades about the producer’s alleged misconduct toward women and now feels ashamed he did not take a stronger stand and stop working with him, he said in an interview.

“I knew enough to do more than I did,” he said, citing several episodes involving prominent actresses. “There was more to it than just the normal rumors, the normal gossip. It wasn’t secondhand. I knew he did a couple of these things.”

“I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard,” he added. “If I had done the work I should have done then, I would have had to not work with him.”

Allegations of sexual harassment and assault by Mr. Weinstein were disclosed this month in The New York Times and The New Yorker, which prompted other women to share their accounts of his alleged abuse, set off criminal investigations, roiled the entertainment world and triggered a social media movement of women from other industries and backgrounds telling their stories.”

Young Turk (n), 1. Young progressive or insurgent member of an institution, movement, or political party. 2. A young person who rebels against authority or societal expectations.(American Heritage Dictionary)

Blogger, Performer, Truck Driver, Serial Careerist, Cigarette Butt Collector. Let me bitch at you every day until you sort your shit.

  1. if i help someone kill a person, i go to jail for murder. tarentino should go to jail as well, he enabled a rapist to rape more women, he is guilty by his own acount, punnish him, and make it obvius that if we can prove that you knew about a crime and did not report it you are just as guilty as the person you enabled.!

  2. Tarantino has disappointed me very much. Not because of this statement but, because when everything first came out, his first statement was that he needed more time to process what had happened. Process what? Time for what? Time to come up with a proper statement??? I just hope he, and all others who knew and know of others who are doing the same, do something about it now.

  3. Celebrate the Women who have come out? How? more lip service? Notice all the women who have come out and had not played the game…. none of them have serious careers. The damage was crushing and total. Get it….. these women were crushed. But the women whose lives were made by this monster? Interesting that really only Angelina Jolie was able to really recover in any way professionally that did not have to continue to "work" with this monster. What can we do to help these women? How about Miramax gifts the percentage of the Miramax that Harvey owned and give it to the women. Talk is cheap… what are they doing to help these women?

  4. Roman Polanski raped a 13 yr old and fled the United States 30 yrs ago The Sudden, Selective Outrage is almost Comical, if it wasn't Horribly Disgusting. Listening to TYT halfway defending Tarantino just shows you that White Supremacy is Alive and well in all aspects of Main Stream Media

  5. At least he's admitting he knew. Other men in Hollywood are saying they didn't know it was as bad as it was. I have a weird relationship with what Tarantino considers empowering. I think he genuinely attempts to turn elements of the exploitation film genre on their head, and say something with it, and yet it still sometimes just feels like exploitation. That said he seems to be someone who always tries, takes risks, and doesn't shy away from laying his message on the table. That's what he's doing here, and what he failed to do before. I think maybe that's why he's the one making the risky statement here, he's probably more ashamed than the average Hollywood man about keeping quiet, as his career (and I think personal philosophy) is based on the antithesis of that.

  6. No one cares about women so we'd better give more of a shit about ourselves. Start carrying a switchblade and when you cut them up, tell them to explain why they're cut up to the police!

  7. A lot women would have thrown themselves at harvey weinstein as well, which would have created a false economy in his own mind. The guy's a creep, but Women need to up their game too on this too and call out their Female actresses that flirt with directors for role, to stop that and rely on getting work the way straight male actors do, through hard work and patience.

  8. At least he's real about it unlike those fuckers Meryl Streep, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Worthless Hollywood actors doing anything for a leg up

  9. Tarantino is a slimy bastard who is just looking after his own arse. Because he knows we all know that him and his Ilk knew what was going on but clearly put their own interests first. Apologizing for this before others do is just another example this.

  10. Tarantino is awesome, he managed to make amazing movies which earn money and didn't rape anyone. Also, don't forget here. The women who spoke up against Weinstein are just the ones who said no. So eat shit critics.

  11. there are so many shredders overheating and files and photos getting deleted all over hollywood. the rape chickens are coming home to roost.

  12. Guy who makes shitty movies is a shitty person who was friends with shitty people and made excuses for their criminal behavior. Figures.

  13. you young turk idiots they didnt just say nothing they were all part of this shit. everyone who has successes in holly-wood is complicit. its a satanic conspiracy of not just silence but complaisance

  14. For a second I thought all the women then made it is because they slept with this guy; but I guess some of these women do have some talent.

  15. Celebrate the 'survivors' who stood by and let other be victimized after they got their cash settlement and signed NDAs' ?
Or the 'survivors' who continued to profit and advanced their careers even after they claim to have been assaulted and also allowed other women become victims?

  16. Its saddening that he could have done more but he is so far the most honest I've heard. He is holding himself accountable and not acting like he didn't know like many others.

  17. They should not have taken the money. The love of money is the root of all evil. In all honesty, that is what you are seeing take place. What happens when the world goes cashless? Things are only going to get worse sadly. Remember this!

  18. He was probably involved in a lot of shady shit too …. he's just trying to cover his ass & not get his ego and his career ruined.

  19. While this situation is extreme,,,,this is just an attitude that women factor in when surviving their daily lives. EVERY women has been pushed into this corner to some degree. Hopefully, this is signalling a change in the culture. I grew up in the 50's. Google commercials from that time. From doctors promoting cigarettes, Coke recommending the drink to children to using sex and domination over women, hopefully we are evolving from a very immature cultural mindset.

  20. I love Quentin for keeping it real. It's not easy to admit that you were aware that a predator was victimizing women. Those who won't admit that they knew are the real scum. Salute Quentin Tarantino.

I hope this is the beginning of a revolution in Hollywood. Get those pedophiles and predators out of there.

  21. Let's not forget that both men and women were stuck by the power dynamic. The women were the victims but felt they couldn't do anything about it if they wanted to be movie stars and the men should have been more gallant in defending them but couldn't if they wanted to continue to be cast in movies.

  22. There's every chance he's made the statement to stay on side with Uma Thurman; his muse, who definitely has something to say.
